72,000 women across Australia, sought homelessness services in 2016–17 due to family/domestic violence. Our Staying Home Leaving Violence program gives women who want to escape domestic or family violence a choice to stay in their own homes or to leave safely.

It’s Child Protection Week

Protecting children and vulnerable adults of our services is a joint responsibility of all staff at CatholicCare. CatholicCare has a Permanency Support Program working with children and young people that are under the care of the minister and where it is no longer safe to live at home.

Farewell to one of our own – our beloved Harold Chatfield

Harold Chatfield was a much loved CatholicCare team member at our Waitara Family Centre where he worked as a Homelessness Support Worker between February 2015 through to August 2017. Harold was working for FaCs as a Senior Client Services Officer when he was tragically killed on 6 July 2018.

Caring Dads – a group program for men who want to be better fathers

Caring Dads is for men who are committed to changing behaviours in order to be better, more child-centred fathers. The program was developed in Canada by the University of Toronto, and is quite new to Australia.

Rob has raised considerable funds for St John the Baptist Parish in Woy Woy, and Mary Mac’s Place over the years. Mary Mac’s, managed and operated by CatholicCare, is open to anyone who is homeless, transient or needing a helping hand on the Central Coast. Located at the Ethel Cox Centre in Woy Woy – Mary Mac’s provides a two course lunch daily and a place to shower and to wash clothes.

CatholicCare Disability Futures receives Certificate of Registration under the New South Wales Disability Services Standards

As part of the final compliance requirements of its contract with the NSW Department of Families & Community Services, Ageing Disability and Home Care CatholicCare Disability Futures undertook Third Party Verification through an audit process with verifier/assessors from HDAA Australia Pty Ltd. The actual audit took place over two days in late February with many weeks of preparation occurring beforehand.
