Connecting at our Aboriginal playgroup

CatholicCare's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Supported Playgroup is thriving. Not only are we connecting Aboriginal children and families with support services, but we also are giving kids a chance to meet and connect with other kids from their culture. That social connection is so important.

How we embrace Aboriginal culture during NAIDOC Week and everyday

Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! is this year’s NAIDOC Week theme, and there is no shortage of that happening at CatholicCare right now. From young people in our Permanency Support Program showing up to National Reconciliation Week marches to staff in Children’s Services engaging children with bush tucker gardens and Aboriginal art, the momentum for change and greater cultural connection is growing.

Our commitment to Reconciliation

CatholicCare is proud to have had our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) endorsed by Reconciliation Australia, demonstrating our commitment to building relationships with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples, encouraging respect for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples, taking and making opportunities for reconciliation and tracking progress against the intentions noted in our RAP.

Farewell to one of our own – our beloved Harold Chatfield
