SUPPORTING MEN, WOMEN & FAMILIES WHO ARE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS OR SOCIAL ISOLATION

Dom’s Place operates as a ‘one-stop-shop,’ an inclusive space where people can feel safe and connected. The most marginalised members of our community were repeatedly facing strict eligibility criteria, long waitlists, and complex entry points. Too often, the system itself became a barrier. Dom’s Place was designed to be different.

Some pop in to get a meal, wash their clothes and chat with a social worker to address housing needs. Others come and play a game of pool, use the computers and connect with employment pathways. Case management, counselling, groups and mental health supports are available, as well as referrals to other services as needed. Other local services also operate from Dom’s Place including legal, housing, cultural, financial and medical services.

People can drop in when they like, no appointment is needed. Clients consistently describe Dom’s as respectful, welcoming, and free from judgement — often in contrast to previous service experiences. We are located at 9 Leonard Street, Hornsby and we’re open between 9.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday. See the current program here.

I have been engaged with other services but they were too clinical and overwhelming. This is much more welcoming.

These services matter. Basic supports build daily stability, while trust and community create pathways for change. This mix is what makes the Dom’s so effective, and we have seen some incredible outcomes in the last 12 months including:

  • Food & Nutrition Support: 6,000+ meals served supplemented by 15,000 donated meals from community partners – over 300 per week.
  • Housing & Tenancy Support: 700+ housing interventions including crisis accommodation, tenancy sustainment and public housing applications.
  • Health & Wellbeing Support: 1,000+ health interventions including referrals to mental health providers, GP appointments and access to wellness activities.
  • Drug & Alcohol Support: 400+ drug and alcohol interventions connecting clients to specialised treatment and harm minimisation services.
  • Financial Discussions & Capability: 400+ financial discussions provided focusing on debt management, budgeting assistance and welfare entitlements assistance.
  • Legal Assistance & Justice Diversion: Hundreds of legal interventions helped clients with fines, tenancy disputes, and criminal justice matters.
  • Hygiene & Dignity Services: 1,000+ showers and 2,000+ laundry services accessed over the year, with clothing, blankets and toiletries regularly distributed.
  • Digital Inclusion: Daily access to computers, WIFI, and device charging services provided ensuring access to external services and social connectivity.
  • Training & Employment Pathways: Training and employment programs provided valuable opportunities for clients and their future stability.

We’d love to welcome you to Dom’s Place. We are located at 9 Leonard Street, Hornsby and we’re open between 9.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday. Drop in anytime, no appointment needed.
