Meet Kaori from Wahroonga

My name is Kaori. You’ll find my Family Day Care centre in Wahroonga.

I am a mum of three daughters (12, 10 and 8 years). My children are very active. I worked in Tokyo as a midwife and nurse. I came to Australia in 2006 and worked as a babysitter for many children.

I have a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, a Community Languages Teaching Certificate and Community Language School Leadership and Management as well as Certificate of Suzuki Early Childhood Education. Currently, I am president of a Japanese community language school as well as a teacher. Through these experiences, I support individual children’s needs, teach language through music and explore Australian and Japanese cultural cerebrations.

I choose to work in family day care as I love seeing children happy. I want to support children’s individual needs and behaviours. I would be delighted to teach the children in my care some Japanese language and culture if they are interested. My Family Day Care centre is called Niko Niko Family Day Care which means smile or happy in Japanese.

We are a play based educational environment. Children’s interest will form the foundation of their educational program which will reflect the EYLF. I support children’s self-esteem, positive interaction and life survival skills.

I speak both Japanese and English.
