I have over 15 years’ experience working in the community, employment, disability, and social services sector.  My passion is to support teams to be the best they can be. I like to focus on collaboration, innovation, and team/individual growth. I encourage a professional, optimistic and solutions focused culture, that is psychologically safe for my team. We spend so much time at work and it’s important that we see value and enjoy coming to work each day and have high job satisfaction. I have completed my Bachelor of Business and am almost through my Masters in Business Administration.

I am delighted to be leading our team of talented and dedicated counsellors at CatholicCare. I have a Bachelor of Midwifery and Master of Counselling and am a registered supervisor with ACA. As a specialist lead, my passion lies in not only providing individual guidance but also fostering a supportive and collaborative environment for my team. With extensive experience in counselling and leadership, I am committed to ensuring that our clients receive the highest quality care and support. I believe in the power of teamwork and that by working together, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of those we serve.  Together, we strive to create a safe and inclusive space for clients to explore their emotions, overcome challenges, and find their own paths to healing and personal growth.

Counsellor: Michele

I work with individuals over the age of 18 years and have a specific interest in working with those who have experienced domestic violence and/or childhood trauma. I also enjoy working with parents and anyone experiencing anxiety, depression, grief and loss. I use a variety of modalities in my work including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Gestalt Therapy, whilst always meeting the client in a person-centred and trauma-informed way. I am trained in the facilitation of Keeping Kids in Mind, Circle of Security and Triple P parenting programs, and have also co-facilitated Tuning into Kids and Tuning into Teens. I am fascinated by people’s stories and feel privileged to be given the opportunity to help them understand themselves and their relationships.

I have worked as a counsellor with young people and adults for 7 years. I have a Masters Degree in Counselling and am trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Solution Based Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy and Jungian Therapy. I especially like working with children and young people and enjoy using creative activities and a variety of different methods to help people develop, gain insights and overcome challenges. I offer a safe and confidential space where things can be talked about freely without judgement. My approach is trauma-informed and I treat each client as an individual, tailoring my counselling approach to suit individual needs. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, stress, complex trauma, relationship problems, family issues, self-esteem issues, life transition and career coaching.

In 2022, I joined CatholicCare’s counselling team, where I am excited about working with men, women and teenagers across a variety of concerns. As a counsellor, I work with my clients to support them in dealing with life’s challenges, meeting their goals and flourishing in their lives. My therapeutic approach is person-centred and trauma-informed, and holistically integrates mindfulness, compassion, emotion, CBT, strengths based and goal focused work. On a personal level, I bring a strong ethic of compassion, care, respect and open acceptance to building relationships of trust and safety with my clients.

I am a counsellor and art therapist and have experience working with children, young people, adults and families who experienced complex trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, family and domestic violence, and with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. I am especially interested in early childhood and in using play and the expressive arts to restore attachment and communication. I offer art materials and play therapy techniques as other ways to express and process life’s challenges, foster self-determination and self-worth. My therapeutic approach is trauma and violence informed, and includes art therapy, person-centred therapy, dyadic developmental psychotherapy, three-phased approach to trauma therapy, strength-based therapy, and response-based therapy. Collaboration, choice and trust are core values in my work.

I have a post-graduate degree in Counselling and am trained in various modalities including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Solution Based Therapy and Person-Centred Therapy. I am passionate about working alongside clients, offering a confidential, safe, non-judgemental space. I work with clients in a trauma-informed way, assisting them in developing skills and strategies to assist and navigate their daily struggles and reduce the overwhelm they may be feeling. My approach is led by my clients, focusing on what they bring to the session and adapting my counselling style to align with their individual needs. I have experience in working with addiction, anxiety, depression, complex trauma, family issues and self-esteem issues. My role is to help clients bring effective change to their lives and focus on their wellbeing in all aspects.

Counsellor: Sarah

I have worked with adults with complex mental health needs including trauma as a Lifeline crisis supporter, NSW Health peer support worker and as a counsellor with SANE Australia. My clients are diverse and include different cultural backgrounds, LGBTIQ+ and neurodiverse. I have a Master’s Degree in Counselling and focused my learning on family violence. My approach is person-centered (Rogerian) and I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Solution Based Therapy. I am in the process of adding further specialisms. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, stress and complex trauma. I have lived experience of complex trauma and have myself benefited from therapy in my life. I will help you uncover what is right for you and always respect that you are the expert on yourself.

Counsellor: Sam

I completed a graduate Diploma of Counselling and now am nearing the completion of Master of Counselling. I also have a Bachelor degree in Theology and have experience as a pastor for youth and young adults. I am passionate about facilitating a safe and supportive environment for my clients to enable positive change in mental health care so that they can live meaningful and fulfilling lives. I integrate a holistic approach that respects identity and background, using a broad range of therapeutic models and techniques alongside a person-centred approach.  I work collaboratively with clients and strive to be supportive and present in their journey towards healing and growth.

Administration Assistant: Jennifer

My previous work experience is in the areas of office administration, reception, accounts and payroll. It is my love of helping and interacting with others that motivates and fulfils me. In my administrative role, it is important to me to assist people access the support services Catholic Care offers. I understand that it can be difficult at times to negotiate difficult processes and I want to support people receive the services they are seeking in a simple and clear manner. I feel so privileged and excited to be working alongside a group of dedicated professionals who are committed to supporting others.
