Boonah’s first Father’s Day Stall: Art that makes a difference

August 22, 2025

This Father’s Day, give a gift with meaning by supporting Boonah Creative Arts Centre’s inaugural Father’s Day Stall. From Wednesday, August 27th, Boonah will showcase a range of thoughtfully designed gifts by talented artists with disabilities. Each piece reflects the creativity and dedication of the Boonah artists, who put their heart into every creation.

Featured items at the stall include:

  • Coffee Travel Cups with a cockatoo collage artwork by Susan.
  • Superhero Bottle Openers featuring designs by David.
  • Father’s Day Cards designed by Stephen and David.
  • A4 and A3 Artworks from a variety of Boonah artists, starting at just $30.

One of the standout pieces is a Father’s Day card designed by Boonah artist, Stephen. “Stephen just became a grandfather for the first time, so this Father’s Day is particularly special for him,” says Activity Leader, Cadence. “He’s been creating artwork for the baby’s room, and it’s very fitting that one of his pieces became a Father’s Day card. Stephen’s work is abstract, focusing on light, shadows, and freehand dot work. His pieces are always well-loved at exhibitions.”

For the artists at Boonah, this stall marks an exciting new chapter, as they branch out from traditional framed art to explore different mediums and products. “This is our first Father’s Day stall, and the artists are thrilled to see their work in new forms, beyond the gallery,” Cadence adds.

Purchasing art from Boonah is more than just buying a gift. It’s an opportunity to support artists who are deeply invested in their work and who take pride in sharing their creations. “Our artists put so much of themselves into their art,” Cadence explains. “It’s not just about creating something beautiful – it’s about expressing something meaningful. Art is a therapeutic process for them, and each piece reflects their personal journey.”

The art created at Boonah is not only a source of pride for the artists but also a powerful tool for building confidence and resilience. The centre offers a safe, supportive environment where artists with disabilities can explore their creativity and express themselves through their work.

We invite you to stop by Boonah’s Father’s Day Stall, meet the artists, and discover the stories behind their work. Every piece you purchase helps support Boonah’s artists and their ongoing creative development. Whether you’re shopping for a gift or simply want to support the local community, your visit will make a difference.
