Multisystemic Therapy for Child Abuse & Neglect (MST-CAN) offers an evidence-based treatment model of intensive therapeutic care that works on the understanding that it is best for your child to remain at home with your family if it is safe to do so.
We work with families whose children are aged between 6 and 17 years. We work with the Department of Communities & Justice (DCJ) to address any Risk of Significant Harm concerns that have been identified for the family.
Our team is made up of trained therapists who deliver supports to the whole family in the family home. We meet with families at least 3 times a week in their home for a duration of 6 – 9 months. We work with families to identify their goals and support them to achieve these. We focus on delivering trauma informed therapeutic treatment for the family unit as well as individual members within the family. We build on family strengths, help you develop your parenting skill and build capacity for problem solving, identify sustainable informal supports through extended family or community members, address the misuse of drugs and alcohol and any anger management concerns.
Whilst families are working with us, support is available 24/7 through our on-call service.
