Supporting men’s health – a call to care, connect and check in

June 9, 2025

Each year in June, Men’s Health Week gives us a vital opportunity to turn the spotlight onto the physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing of men in our communities. At CatholicCare, we see this week not only as a chance to raise awareness – but also as a call to action.

The whole health of a man

Health is more than the absence of illness. True wellbeing includes emotional resilience, strong relationships, a sense of purpose, and access to support when it’s needed. Unfortunately, too many men still feel pressure to stay silent when they’re struggling. They may hesitate to ask for help, or feel they need to “tough it out” alone. But we believe that caring for your health – body, mind and soul—is a strength, not a weakness. This week is about breaking the silence, starting conversations, and reminding the men in our lives that they matter.

Start with connection

At CatholicCare, we see the transformative power of community and connection every day. Whether it’s a man attending counselling, a young dad completing a Men’s Behaviour Change program, or an elder dealing with loss or loneliness – support makes a difference.

Men’s Health Week is a great time to:

  • Check in with the men in your life. A simple “How are you, really?” can go a long way.
  • Encourage regular health checkups, both physical and mental.
  • Talk about mental health in everyday conversations – normalise it.
  • Share stories of hope and healing, to show others they’re not alone.

 Services that support men

CatholicCare offers a wide range of programs that support men at all stages of life including:

We believe in meeting people where they are, offering care that’s compassionate, confidential and grounded in dignity and respect.

A faithful call to care

As a Catholic organisation, we are inspired by the belief that every person is created in the image of God and deserving of care. Men’s Health Week is a reminder that tending to our wellbeing is not just a personal act, but a spiritual one. Let us continue to build a culture where it’s okay for men to speak up, to seek help and to thrive.

This Men’s Health Week, let’s work together to create a stronger, healthier future – for our fathers, brothers, sons, friends and for ourselves.

If you or someone you know could benefit from support, please reach out to CatholicCare on 1800 324 924 or info@catholiccare.org.au.

We’re here to listen, help, and walk with you.
