About the Diocese of Broken Bay Banner

The Catholic Diocese of Broken Bay exists to serve the people and communities in the North Shore, Northern Beaches and Central Coast. The Diocese was established in 1986, having formerly been part of the Sydney Archdiocese.

In October 2019, Anthony Randazzo was installed as the fourth Bishop of Broken Bay. After more than six years leading the Diocese, he left for Rome in June 2026 to take up his appointment as Prefect of the Dicastery for Legislative Texts, having been made an Archbishop in the process.

Very Rev Dr David Ranson is currently the Diocesan Administrator of the Diocese of Broken Bay, elected by the College of Consultors, and oversees the continuity of pastoral care, administration and existing ministries until a new bishop is appointed.

Please visit our Diocese of Broken Bay website and see the many ways in which we serve God through our service to his people. Perhaps you will want to visit one of our churches. Or you may be looking for a Catholic school or religious education program. You might even feel inspired to take part in some of our social, pastoral or educational ministries.

We invite you to join us in the ongoing mission of serving each other, the community and all creation in justice and love.

I hold the work of CatholicCare in high regard. The relationships you build and the care you provide aren't incidental to CatholicCare's mission - they are the mission.
